MTG Reality Fracture: Play vs Collector Boosters
Compare Reality Fracture Play and Collector Boosters by card count, box size, foil treatments and exclusive chases before the October 2 release.
Reality Fracture arrives for tabletop play on October 2, 2026. Its Play and Collector Boosters have different jobs: one supports Draft and Sealed; the other concentrates premium treatments. Think game night versus fancy foil night, with plenty of overlap. Wizards’ collecting guide gives the pack configurations and treatment availability below.
Compare the boosters
| Play Booster | Collector Booster | |
|---|---|---|
| Magic cards per pack | 14 | 15 |
| Packs per booster box | 30 | 12 |
| Main use | Draft, Sealed and set exploration | Foils and premium treatments |
| Shattered mirror cards | Non-foil possible | Non-foil or Collector-only facet foil possible |
| Special Guests | Non-foil possible | Traditional foil possible |
| Serialized Bloodline Recollector | No | Possible; 500 copies across languages |
Wizards says one of ten Special Guests replaces a common in one of 55 Play Boosters. This is a publisher-stated appearance rate for that slot, not odds of pulling a particular Special Guest. A Play Booster has a rare-or-mythic slot, a traditional foil slot, three echoed-pairs slots and a land among its 14 Magic cards. It also contains a punch-out counter card or double-sided token.
Collector Boosters have 15 Magic cards. Their published breakdown includes foil commons and uncommons, three foil uncommon echoed-pairs cards, a foil tower basic land, and multiple rare-or-mythic and Booster Fun slots. For the exact slot percentages, consult Wizards’ chart; they differ by treatment and are not a single “chance of profit.”
Choose by the cards you want
Pick Play when you plan to draft, build from sealed packs or see the set through a longer opening. Non-foil shattered mirror and non-foil Special Guests cards can appear there; you do not need a Collector Booster for every special design.

Pick Collector if the treatment itself is the point. Facet foil shattered mirror cards, Japan Showcase cards in traditional or fracture foil, and the serialized double-rainbow-foil Bloodline Recollector are Collector-only chases. A box does not promise any one of them. The Multiverse has a sense of humor about our wish lists. The 500-copy serial count is a print quantity, not a per-pack hit rate.
If you only want one version of one card, compare its actual single-card listings with the price of a sealed box. That comparison matters more than the number of rares visible in a marketing photo.

What not to assume
Neither format has a published expected resale value. Different slots, print quantities and prices cannot be collapsed into a guaranteed return. Check the exact product and language before ordering, especially if you are hunting Japan Showcase or English-only serialized cards.
