Five Star is Topps’ answer to “what if every card in the box was the hit,” and the 2026 edition keeps the bit going. It releases Wednesday, October 28, and Topps is selling it on release day through EQL, the raffle platform it uses for limited drops.

The format

Five Star comes in exactly one format, the Hobby box:

SpecDetails
Packs per box6
Cards per pack1 (encased)
Autographs per box5 on-card autos, numbered to 199 or less
Base card per box1, numbered to 50 or less
Case3 boxes
Case hits1 color-ink autograph and 2 autograph relics
ReleaseOctober 28, 2026, via EQL

Six cards per box, five of them autographs, everything encased. The case hits are part of a case’s 15 autographs, not extras on top. The color-ink auto comes from Baseball Royalty, Golden Graphs or Silver Signatures. This is a high-end product: no blasters, no value packs, no pretending otherwise.

The base set

The base set is 100 cards covering rookies, veterans and legends, and every single one is numbered to 50 or less. 29 of the 100 are rookies. Base parallels run Amber /25, Emerald /15, Onyx /10, Ruby /5, up to a 1/1 FoilFractor.

What’s new for 2026

Two autograph lines debut this year:

  • Leaderboard Legend Autographs (38 cards, /50)
  • Apex Autographs (34 cards, /25)

Also on the checklist: Five Star Fabric Autographs (37 players, /50), which Topps Ripped describes as a star-shaped die-cut window around a jumbo swatch, and the 1/1 Rookie Cap Patch Autographs with real hat swatches, in MLB-logo and side-logo versions (17 players each).

The autograph lineup

The rest of the hits read like a greatest-hits album of premium baseball:

  • Golden Graphs (33 cards, /50): color-ink signatures, with rookies like Jac Caglianone, Bubba Chandler, Jacob Misiorowski, Nolan McLean and Sal Stewart alongside legends like Robin Yount
  • Quintuple Relic Autographs (15 cards, /10): one auto, five relics. Aaron Judge, Francisco Lindor, Mariano Rivera, Paul Skenes and more
  • Dual Autograph Patch (10 cards, /10): pairings like Cal Ripken Jr. with Gunnar Henderson, Mike Trout with Reggie Jackson, and Mark McGwire with Nick Kurtz
  • Jumbo Prime Autographs (73 cards, /50): the deepest relic-auto checklist
  • Award Winner Autograph Relics (6 cards, /10): 2025’s award winners Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, Tarik Skubal and Paul Skenes, Nick Kurtz and Drake Baldwin
  • Triple Autographs (11 cards, /5): including an Expos trio of Randy Johnson, Vladimir Guerrero and Larry Walker
  • Quotable (25 cards, /5): autographs with handwritten inscriptions
  • Cut Signatures (57 cards, 1/1) and Welcome to the Club (1/1, Shohei Ohtani and Barry Bonds)

Price check

Topps’ price: Checklist Insider reports the release-day EQL price at $1,199.99 a box. Last year’s Five Star was $999.99 on Topps’ launch site, so that’s a $200 bump.

Dealer presales (asking prices checked October 27, not sales):

SellerHobby box
Diamond Cards$1,799.94
CardCollector2$2,049.99
Bleecker Trading$2,100.00

Three-box cases on Waxstat were listed from $6,147, with a $6,749 average. Those dealer asks run roughly 1.5 to 1.75 times the EQL price, which is what you pay to skip the raffle.

Sold prices: eBay’s sold listings returned an error page when we checked on October 27, and DropForecast, which tracks eBay sales for new releases, showed no recorded sales yet. So there’s no sales history behind any of these asks.

Who it’s for

This is the release for the collector who’d rather have six great cards than sixty good ones. If your favorite part of a box break is the encased hit, Five Star is the whole box. If you like ripping volume, look elsewhere. There is no cheap seat at this table.
